Founded in 1977, SEI is headquartered in Frederick, Maryland. We provide customer premises equipment (CPE) and services to telecom service providers such as RBOCs, CLECs, Federal and State Governments, and enterprise class end users, as well as acting as a distribution channel for telephony/computer equipment.
SEI is divided into three divisions: Product, Power Services, and SEI Direct.
Our Product division builds uninterruptible dc premises powering systems for ISDN, VoIP telephony, LAN terminals. Channel Banks, CSU's as well as Network Termination Units (NT1's). SEI's ISDN offerings are focused on providing for the CPE powering of digital Centrex telephone service, which employs ISDN as a backbone protocol. Our Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) products provide power for the convergence of voice and data traffic on the enterprise packet-based data network. IP telephones are directly connected to the enterprise's Ethernet and require a centralized power source to be delivered via the Ethernet. SEI, a participant in the IEEE task force that formulated the 802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet, is actively engaged in engineering vendor-independent power and battery backup solutions for this technology.
